Written in 1520, the Second Letter tells of Cortés's march to the heart of Aztec power: the city of Tenochtitlan, built on the water.
Cortés describes with astonishment the stone cities, the rituals and the tense diplomacy with Emperor Moctezuma II. From the alliances with the Tlaxcalans to the episode of the Noche Triste, it is the account of an encounter that changed the world.
